The Distributed Systems Group (DSG) of the Information Systems Institute at the Technical University of Vienna conducts research and teaching in distributed computing and systems with particular emphasis on software architectures, software services and components, dependability, and security. We investigate foundations and explore novel applications of technologies to the development of distributed services. In the distributed services area, we focus on foundations of Service-oriented Computing, Autonomic, Complex, and Context-aware Computing, Grid Computing, and Mobile and Ubiquitous Computing. In the dependability and security area, we focus on systems that can flexibly adapt their dependability and security properties according to load, failure, and threat situations
