The KIRAS project SiS4You was dedicated to support comprehensive prevention of the offences burglary, intrusion, property damage, vandalism and torching by provision of information, guidance and education of citizens. A web-based IT system was developed The project is dedicated to enable users on one hand to reduce the vulnerability of accommodations and houses and to provide information on the occurrence of incidents provided by authorities on the other. Taken together, SiS4You provides therefore a contribution to the early warning against offences of the population.

In order to achieve these goals data available at the Austrian Ministry of Interior Affairs (BM.I) was assessed and related to the above mentioned offences in an anonymized way in order to comply with privacy requirements. In the next step requirements from 2.000 Austrians were elevated. The trust level in such a platform was on an average, main concerns were related to abuse of data and violation of anonymity. Large interest of the population in preventive measures was identified.

Based on the elevation made with the population and authorities prototypes of the use cases “virtual walk through a house and an accommodation” and “presentation of threats based of the databases of crime prevention” were specified. Based on the specifications, a map of Austria gives the possibility to show the occurrence of the offences observed within the project. Moreover, the user has the possibility to obtain preventive recommendation while making a virtual walk through a flat or a house.

The architecture selected in SiS4You enables potential business partners to interact with the SiS4You platform in order to use the data provided on it.

The project was realized in a joint effort under the project lead of AIT by the partners BM.I, Soroban-IT Beratung, E-SEC Information Security Solutions and IFES (Institut für empirische Sozialforschung).
