Emergency personnel are subject to significantly greater pressure during major accidents than normal. Especially the fact that organizations involved in emergency relief (ambulance, fire brigade, police) are not electronically connected and cannot access common disposition services during a crisis complicates matters greatly.
The project PIK addresses these challenges by developing new components and improving existing elements. The goal is to support the disposition of emergency vehicles and the communication between the control centres of emergency services and hospitals in an efficient and intelligent way, in order to take some of the pressure off personnel involved during the crisis.
In the course of the project, the requirements of exceptional crisis situations are collected and analysed by later users of the system, who contribute their experience in juridical and safety-related areas. After creating a mathematical model of the central requirements, a metaheuristic optimization process is implemented and evaluated with real data. In addition, a secure data interface between hospitals and the planning tool of any control centre is specified within the project PIK.
