HASIF

Action-oriented security research in living environments

Within the HASIF project, a transferable citizen- and community-oriented scientific procedural model to increase subjective security (security understood in a wider sense) through preventive measures in communal resident areas was developed and tested.

The purpose of this research project was to alleviate existing general social and security-relevant problems, to improve the general living situation in a specific housing complex and to develop selective preventive measures for improving the residents' sense of security. Priority was placed on measures to directly increase the level of security, to raise security awareness among residents and politicians. The project has shown that community work (initiating the participation of residents in organizing their living environment, improving neighbourhood contacts and contacts to social facilities) will permanently raise subjective security in neighbourhoods.
