The study deals with the use of information in public authority telecommunication and any risks related to BYOD and Cloud Computing

The popular trend i) Bring your own device (BYOD) and the technology ii) Cloud Computing, hide numerous security risks. The Austrian Security Information Handbook (österreichisches Informationssicherheitshandbuch) as well as other legal frameworks and position papers deal with existing security risks of new phenomena in the telecommunications sector insufficiently.

BEBETELKO analyses in which ways these new trends and risks correlate with the liberalisation of the telecommunications sector since the 1980s and presents a risk analysis as well as a catalogue of mitigation measures. In particular, the study deals with the use of information in public authority telecommunication and any risks related to BYOD and Cloud Computing. It presents recommendations on how to (socio-)technically and normative-legally cover any security gaps. The solutions presented expand the present level of knowledge in this area and they present practical recommendations for decision-makers on how to effectively cover risks in public authority telecommunications.
