RENEWABLE MOBILE ULTRA LIGHT ENERGY STATION (REMULES)

The project aims on a self-sustaining energy supply allowing for rapid and easy transportation and implementation in situations of crisis or catastrophes – whether due to natural disasters (earthquakes), technical defects (nuclear accidents) or war-like conditions. In cooperation with the demand carriers and members of the consortium – the Federal Ministry of Defence and Sports (BMLVS), the Johanniter Ambulance Austria, the Austrian Red Cross (National Association of Vienna), and the Austrian Institute of Technology (AIT) – the project leader smart flower energy technology GmbH explores a novel photovoltaic unit to realize a “Renewable Mobile Ultralight Energy Station”, the REMULES.

These special ultra-lightweight and highly mobile photovoltaic systems with appropriate storage units are able to provide electrical power immediately. Especially after natural disasters, an instantaneous electric supply is crucial to maintain communication networks and IT equipment and to operate medical facilities, such as hospitals. The foldable and robust photovoltaic systems can be linked together to build up larger power grids and may be combined with diesel systems as well – this means that the system is supposed to work both independently and in combination with diesel engines, according to local requirements.
